I write poetry, journals, and letters by hand — yes, real letters, sent through the mail to friends and family. Everything else happens on the computer. Across genres — fiction, nonfiction, essays, poetry — what stays constant is my desire to move past the obvious layer of a subject and reach something deeper. What changes is the language itself: tone, vocabulary, rhythm, and the literary tools employed to meet a particular audience in a particular form.
